Thanks to your support, we are heading to the VT Statehouse! I am downright thrilled and honored. I will be joining Maxine Grad as state representative for the Washington-7 District. I also want to thank wonderful neighbors, friends, and family who helped out in so many ways throughout the campaign. Hats off to a great group of thoughtful and talented high school students whose enthusiasm and commitment for a better world carried us forward! I also thank the other candidates for getting out there-Maxine Grad, Neil Johnson, Ed Read, and Bob Readie-good folks.
One of the most rewarding things about this campaign is the engagement of our communities’ future leaders. They inspire me!
I am thrilled to receive these endorsements. Here’s fun one from Waitsfield Select Board Chair Paul Hartshorn: “Kari serves on the Waitsfield Select Board and has straightened out an enormous number of messes the Board couldn’t have fixed without her. She took the work on willingly and fought for Vermonters. Kari shows dedication and listens. She would be a good representative, as long as she doesn’t get too carried away.”
An a wonderful endorsement from another person I admire, Vermont State Treasurer Beth Pearce:
“I am pleased to support Kari Dolan for State Representative. Kari has spent her 25 years of public service working on clean water initiatives and funding strategies. She is a dedicated, hard working public servant who cares about Vermont and its citizens. She will make a great State Representative.”
“Kari Dolan is the right choice for State Representative for Washington 7 District. She has a strong commitment to public service and improving the lives of Vermonters. She is a recognized leader on clean water issues and an effective advocate for a cleaner, brighter, and more flood resilient future. Please vote for Kari on November 6th.”
Another important endorsement that I care deeply about is Planned Parenthood, supporting a woman’s right to make her own personal and private health care decisions.
Lawn Signs are IN! To get one, simply zip me an email: email@example.com, and I will drop one off. (Buttons are in, too!)
“Kari Dolan is a strong advocate for cleaning and protecting Vermont’s waters and I know she will continue to work on building resilient communities as we face the challenge of climate change.”
I had a fun evening earlier this week at Sugarbush, listening to our U.S. Representative, Peter Welch. One thing that particularly resonated with me was his statement that getting engaged matters, and that there is a role for all of us to help make our communities the best that they can be. Here’s Maxine Grad and me with Congressman Welch. Thank you, Win Smith, Lili Ruane, Kinny Perot and Richard Czaplinski, for hosting a great event!
In case you missed it, here is a snippet from the 9/6/2018 publication of the Valley Reporter — a Letter to the Editor by Warren resident, Stephen Willis. Thank you, Stephen! I am honored.
Thank you for your support at the Primary Election in August!
As you may know, I am running for a seat in the VT House of Representatives. Because of your support, my success at the Primary Election means that I am heading to the General Election in November!
We live in a two-seat district, made up of the communities of Duxbury, Fayston, Moretown, Waitsfield and Warren. Thanks to the voters in these towns, I am thrilled to join incumbent Maxine Grad as one of two Democratic candidates on the November ballot!
I have quite a bit to do between now and November to introduce myself as a candidate for this House seat. I am going door-to-door to listen to your thoughts, hopes and ideas, and discuss solutions on how to make people's lives better.
I very much look forward to meeting you on the campaign trail. Feel free to check out the rest of my website and my Facebook page to learn more about me and how to get involved in the campaign! Of course feel free to share this newsletter to people you know. Folks can also sign up to receive this newsletter on the webpage.
Thank you again for your support, and I will see you around the neighborhood!
Kari Dolan formally kicked off her campaign for State Representative at the Mad River Taste Place in Waitsfield on May 17, 2018. About 60 people attended the event to hear from the candidate while enjoying local cheeses and music by the Mad Mountain Scramblers. Kari is a Democrat, seeking office in the two-seat, Washington-7 District, representing Duxbury, Fayston, Moretown, Waitsfield and Warren.
“When President Obama was leaving office, he said in one of his speeches, ‘If something needs fixing, then grab a clipboard, and run for office yourself. Show up. Dive in. Stay at it.’ This run is me showing up and diving in for you, our neighbors, our communities and our children’s future.” began Kari.
Kari discussed the importance of community and collaboration, working farm and forest lands, the outdoor and tourism-based economy and small businesses. She talked about her commitment to the environment. “I am committed to enhancing the environment, so that our kids and grandkids can enjoy the outdoors, as we do today.”
Kari stressed her commitment to public service, including many years as a children's soccer and lacrosse coach, a former board member of the Mad River Planning District and Friends of the Mad River, and a current member of the Waitsfield Select Board. She also manages a multi-million dollar clean water restoration grant program at the Agency of Natural Resources and was formerly the state's Floodplain manager and National Flood Insurance Program Coordinator.
Added Kari, "As your state representative, I will bring with me my experiences and awareness of the issues here to work on meaningful and positive change. My commitment to you is that I will dig deeper and stay at it."
I attended Emerge Vermont Candidate Bootcamp this past May, and WOW! The action-packed, three-day training helped me to jumpstart my campaign. Thanks, Emerge Vermont! This organization supports women Democrats interested in running for municipal, district, or statewide office. The organization came about to address concerns that women make up less than 25% of all elected officials nationwide. The Emerge network now has affiliate organizations in 20 states! Governor Madeleine Kunin is the founder of the Vermont affiliate - Emerge Vermont.
Emerge Vermont gave me the tools, know-how, and encouragement to run for Vermont State Representative. Now its off to the races -- the first race in the State Primary on August 14th; the Big 'Un is Tuesday, November 6th. Don't forget to vote!
I just received an endorsement of my candidacy for Vermont State Representative, Washington-7 from the Vermont Sierra Club because, as stated in their letter, of my "demonstrated commitment to protecting the environment and advancing social justice." I am honored and strengthened by this endorsement. It energizes me to continue to stand up for the values we all care about -- clean water and air, healthy forests and soils, sustainability, land stewardship, and social justice. My candidacy is about you, community, our future and our children's future.
Great News! I received an early endorsement from the Vermont Conservation Voters for my strong environmental credentials! This organization, as described in their press release, "aims to educate voters across the state on candidates whose values and actions demonstrate a commitment to ensuring Vermonters have access to clean air, clean water, clean energy, healthy forests, reduced exposure to toxic chemicals, and sustainable communities." Great news!
