Kari Dolan formally kicked off her campaign for State Representative at the Mad River Taste Place in Waitsfield on May 17, 2018. About 60 people attended the event to hear from the candidate while enjoying local cheeses and music by the Mad Mountain Scramblers. Kari is a Democrat, seeking office in the two-seat, Washington-7 District, representing Duxbury, Fayston, Moretown, Waitsfield and Warren.

“When President Obama was leaving office, he said in one of his speeches, ‘If something needs fixing, then grab a clipboard, and run for office yourself. Show up. Dive in. Stay at it.’ This run is me showing up and diving in for you, our neighbors, our communities and our children’s future.” began Kari.

Kari discussed the importance of community and collaboration, working farm and forest lands, the outdoor and tourism-based economy and small businesses. She talked about her commitment to the environment. “I am committed to enhancing the environment, so that our kids and grandkids can enjoy the outdoors, as we do today.”

Kari stressed her commitment to public service, including many years as a children’s soccer and lacrosse coach, a former board member of the Mad River Planning District and Friends of the Mad River, and a current member of the Waitsfield Select Board.  She also manages a multi-million dollar clean water restoration grant program at the Agency of Natural Resources and was formerly the state’s Floodplain manager and National Flood Insurance Program Coordinator.

Added Kari, “As your state representative, I will bring with me my experiences and awareness of the issues here to work on meaningful and positive change. My commitment to you is that I will dig deeper and stay at it.”
